This qualification is for individuals maintaining aircraft life support equipment and furnishings in the Australian Defence Force and Aircraft Maintenance Organizations. It includes common and technical units, and meets regulatory requirements.

Course Description:

 

The qualification applies to members of the Australian Defence Force (ADF) and employees of Aircraft Maintenance Organizations (AMOs) who maintain aircraft, life support equipment, and aircraft furnishings. It includes common units, mandatory and elective technical stream units, and imported units related to pyrotechnics safety, inspection, sewing, trimming, and fabric adhesive use. The qualification is linked to MEA41122 Certificate IV in Aeronautical Life Support Equipment and can be credited towards other Aeroskills qualifications. It is relevant to workplaces governed by the Defence Aviation Safety Authority (DASA) and the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA), with adherence to MEA unit regulatory requirements.

Competency Elements:

To be awarded the MEA30322 Certificate III in Aircraft Life Support and Furnishing, competency must be demonstrated in 21 units of competency, as follows:

9 Core units

MEA107 Interpret and use aviation maintenance industry manuals and specifications.              

MEA118 Conduct self in the aviation maintenance environment.                                     

MEA154 Apply work health and safety practices in aviation maintenance.                        

MEA155 Plan and organise aviation maintenance work activities.                                   

MEA156 Apply quality standards during aviation maintenance activities.                          

MEA157 Complete aviation maintenance industry documentation                                  

MEA158 Perform basic hand skills, standard trade practices, and fundamentals in aviation maintenance.                            

MEM12001 Use comparison and basic measuring devices.                                             

MSMENV272 Participate in environmentally sustainable workplace.
