Course Requirements

To complete this unit, candidates must demonstrate knowledge in various areas, including relevant legislation, internal and external sources of health and safety information, hazard identification and risk assessment methods, risk management systems, written communication conventions, and problem-solving techniques. Understanding Commonwealth and state or territory Acts, regulations, and codes, as well as concepts related to hazards, risks, and adequacy of risks, is crucial. Additionally, familiarity with work-related health and safety management systems, recordkeeping requirements, and the Hierarchy of Risk Control measures is necessary. Being able to access and apply relevant publications and information is also essential for successful completion of this unit.


The assessment of this unit must meet certain mandatory conditions. These include access to risk management policies and processes, conducting the assessment in a safe environment, assessing in the context of the specific work environment, compliance with relevant legislation and industry-specific policies, and confirming consistent performance. In situations where personal safety or environmental limitations exist, a realistic and comprehensive simulated work environment may be used for assessment. Adhering to these conditions ensures a thorough evaluation of the unit's requirements.
