If you are attending the workshop all training and assessment material will be supplied and conducted on the day of the training. If you are studing this unit as a self-paced course it requires course reading and assignments and you can start any time. A represeative will call and confirmed your enrolment and arrange an initial support phone interview.

Course Description

Are you a trainer and assessor working with adult learners struggling with reading, writing, or numbers in the workplace? This workshop will help you identify Language, Literacy, and Numeracy issues in training and assessment and give you keys to helping your workers gain the skills they need to be competent.

This unit is a required update for all those who hold the TAE40110 and a core unit in TAE40116. It is also an elective for TAE50216 Diploma of Training Design and Development.

Course Content

The Language, Literacy, Numeracy Workshop is based around interpreting units of competency to determine skill level and then matching these levels to the Australian Core Skills Framework. If workers struggle to meet the level required in the training or in the workplace, what can you do as a trainer to assist them to achieve? In this one day professional development workshop we will discuss:

  • - Adult Literacy in Australia
  • - Introduction to the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF)
    • - What are the five levels?
    • - How would you determine where a worker fits into these five levels?
  • - Analyse a unit of competency for core Language, Literacy, Numeracy (LLN) requirements.
  • - How do you make a judgement about the LLN requirements of learner skill levels and training?
  • - Practical suggestions to assist your workers with Language, Literacy, Numeracy issues in the workplace.
  • - How to customise training to develop core LLN skills.
